Over the course of the last year I was commissioned by three talented New York singer-songwriters — Andy Marino, Carol Lipnik, and Julia Haltigan — to take pinhole portraits for their latest CDs.
All three projects were creative collaborations with the artists, and enormously fun. We did two separate sessions for both Carol and Julia’s shoots, adjusting the lighting, setting, and composition for the second shoot in response to the results of the first one. I ended up taking about ten rolls of film for each artist, or 120 different portraits in all.
