Most of the time my aesthetic aligns with the less is more philosophy — I like simplicity, brevity, and clarity. But that doesn’t necessarily translate into size. While I love small (5” x 5”) silver prints of my medium-format photos — they allow the blurry images to be as rich and crisp as possible — I also love large-format digital C-prints of the images. These prints, which use a technology known as Light-jet or Lambda, turn the blurry images almost into paintings, with the grain taking on wonderful visual interest.
In January I was delighted and honored that some local friends bought large format framed prints of two of my favorite (and most iconic) Brooklyn images —The Thunderbolt Roller Coaster and Jane’s Carousel. At 30” x 30” I think they turned out wonderfully.
