Face masks are everywhere these days, and have been reminding me of my first 50/50 portrait shoot in 2014. One of the props I had at that event was a group of vintage gas masks I’d bought at a flea market years ago. At the time I didn’t know what I was going to do with the rubber, metal, and plastic objects, but they were cool and I knew one day they’d find their purpose, which they did. Using a camera that already pushes things to the dark side, the gas masks made for uniquely creepy and dark portraits. Below are a few of them.
